Whenever I decide to do something new, there is usually a learning curve that requires practice. My friend and sometimes ceramic instructor Dean Goss taught me the phrase Poco a Poco which translates in English as ‘little by little.’

time to learn how to use the wheel and throw clay on said wheel. These new skills will eventually expand my abilities to make functional ceramic ware in bulk at a more rapid pace.

When creating a ‘life’ map which is what I call this calendar, I include all the things that require time. Writing it out helps me ensure that I am managing my time and making room for the things that are important to me such as studio time.

Happy New Year! Over break I enjoyed some needed downtime which finally gave me the opportunity to work on my candle making skills.

I first learned printmaking while in graduate school at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. I experimented with several different printing processes but the one I focused the most on was call Paper Plate Lithography.

This painting along with its companion piece were both inspired by the work of a fellow Spark gallery member, Elaine Ricklin, who it so happens I will be showing with in Spring 2022.

A reflection on a sculpture I built this year.

The light patterns from the garland created interesting shapes that appealed to my artistic sensibilities which in turn got me reflecting on our Christmas tree and the role it plays in our household.

The spirit of Christmas can come in many forms, good will towards others, Santa, Christmas music, tasty holiday treats and another of my favorites… Christmas decorations!
