Throwback Thursday: Concerts on the Lawn at Restoration Vineyards

Restoration Wine and Donny Morales in Concert

Restoration Vineyards is becoming one of my favorite wineries to go to when I’m in Palisade. Not only are their wines delightful, the owners and servers are wonderful to talk with. In addition to enjoyable conversation, Restoration also offers outdoor concerts on their lawn just outside their tasting room. In the past, we’ve tried to time it so that we hit the earlier concert so that before it starts, we can do a tasting, so we know which bottle of wine to order for the concert. Then we head outside and with picnic in hand (of course… any chance to have a picnic I’m all over it), we set up and have an enjoyable Saturday afternoon at Restoration. This picture of Laurie is from a concert and picnic we had one Girl’s Weekend in 2020.

Laurie at Restoration Vineyards Concert on the Green 2020

The scenery that surrounds Restoration is breath taking and the perfect backdrop for a concert on the green. You can see Mount Garfield in the distance and then all around you are vineyards. They have a cool patio space as well but we’ve yet to get a seat there for the concert. On the lawn they have plastic chairs with tables and umbrellas that are color coded for parties of two or more. The umbrellas are super helpful in keeping the hot sun off you, so you don’t wither from the heat and or burn from the sun.

They usually have food trucks at their concerts so that if you didn’t have a picnic already packed you would not go hungry. I’ve not indulged in the Palisade food trucks yet by my friends Laurie and David have and they only have good things to say about them so I don’t think one can go wrong either way.

This spring, I also attended a concert there with Andy, Laurie and David and was sad to learn that we weren’t allowed to bring our picnic basket this time as it competed with the food trucks… I’m hoping this isn’t a permit thing, but I totally get it if it is. One of the many things I love about Palisade is it is very community based and vineyards support other vineyards and, in this case, other businesses such as food trucks. How we approached this dilemma this time is that instead of going to the earlier concert we made reservations for the later one and ate before we came, although I think there was food truck munching while we were there as well.

The music is fun and a combination (I believe) of local and not so local musicians and or vocalists. The last two times we went to a concert we saw Donny Morales who is from Montrose Colorado and has been entertaining crowds around the Western Slope for over 20 years. Morales is a guitarist, vocalist, and harmonica player. It is just an all-around fun time and relaxing as you enjoy the music, wine, food, and friends. Reservations are fee and are for 90-minute time slots from 1:30 – 3:00 pm or 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Reservations can be made via their website at restorationvineyards.com. Restoration Vineyards are located at 3594 E ½ Rd, Palisade, CO, 970-985-0832. So if you are in Palisade and looking for something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon during the summer and early fall months, head on over to Restoration to enjoy their wine, music and the wonderful food truck cuisine!
