Decorating for Christmas
The spirit of Christmas can come in many forms, good will towards others, Santa, Christmas music, tasty holiday treats and another of my favorites… Christmas decorations!
Decorating for Fall Holidays
I consider Halloween the start of what I call “The High Holidays” which includes the trifecta of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and my all-time favorite Christmas!
Developing a Concept or Vision
The result is not so important to me anymore, as the creative process or the journey as I like to call it, is much more interesting. At the end of the day, having a vision and then making it happen is one of the things that makes my life joyful.
Demo and Dialogue
Follow my step-by-step process as a paint a portrait of a Native American in headdress.
Making a Mini Mala
I’m a big believer in mediation although I’m not very good at it. I still have challenges stilling my mind which isn’t surprising because it’s going a million miles a minute thinking about new art projects, refining my business plan and figuring out social media.
Throwback Thursday: Building an Outhouse
One of my post memorable art installations was when I built a full scale Out House for an exhibition called “A Pot To Pee In”.
Paintbrush Pots and Raku Firing
Although I work in many mediums when I create art, oil painting is my first love, followed by working in clay. Being the practical person that I am, I decided to combine my two interested and make a container, or two, to hold my paint brushes.
Interesting Ideas: Creating a Chop with modern Technology
Inspiration from Chinese art history — and collaboration with my husband and his 3d printer.
Things That Bring Me Joy: Making Art
I like to consider myself a media inclusive artist or a multimedia artist which basically means I work in a variety of materials. The artwork I create to be exhibited in galleries or museums is driven by concepts and not a particular medium.
Throwback Thursday: Provincetown, MA
I’m a big believer that our past experiences inform our present life. Education is an obvious example of this, but there are other, not so obvious influences like friendship, learning skills like printmaking, collecting things and or cooking for friends.
Experimental Gardening: Growing Potatoes
Despite the pandemic (or perhaps in part thanks to it) I discovered the joy of experimental gardening! Basically, I took my approach to creating art and applied it to the garden.
Napkin Rings
Napkin rings are an important part of dressing a table along with cloth napkins. In my mind, they add a touch of elegance to a table.
Throwback Thursday: Making the Palisade Posh Pillow Series
The idea for the Palisade Posh pillow series all started with me buying a fountain for our urban garden. When folks at the garden store were packing up the fountain for transport, they used old burlap coffee bean bags for padding. When I saw them, I knew I could make something out of them and so the experimentation and exploration began!
Making Stuff: Candles and Candlesticks
One great pleasure for me is dressing tables. Since candles play an important role in a properly dressed table, I thought they would be a good item to have for sale at Palisade Posh. Therefore, I will be experimenting with making different kinds of candle sticks and learning how to make my own candles.
Orchid Pots
I am obsessed with making things, be it creating works of art, cooking, gardening, or making useful objects for things that bring me joy. In this case, making a pot for my most recent Orchid acquisition!
