Three Minutes Away – Palisade Pie Shop
Also known as the Pie Shop, this tasty establishment is literally just around the corner from us! Located at 3415 C ½ Road, in Palisade, this place is an icon within our community. Every day they bake pies made fresh from local fruits including peaches, cherries, apricots, apples and strawberries. They also make blueberry, triple berry, rhubarb and cranberry pies. Their specialty pies include crème, cheese, key lime, pumpkin, and pecan. My goal is to one day perhaps be their pecan supplier!
In addition to pies, you can also purchase such goodies as meats, other baked goodies, ice cream, coffee, and hot chocolate! We have enjoyed their pies as well as their meats. We recently purchased jalapeno brats and they were so good! Andy grilled them and then I wrapped them in a puffed pastry and baked them, OMG so, so good! I will include the recipe in my next post, it came from my new Barefoot Contessa Cookbook (a Christmas present from Andy). When we were picking up the brats, Andy, and I both order a hot chocolate for the road as it was a chilly Sunday afternoon when we stopped in. This summer I will have to try out their ice cream, as it is currently January, and a little too cold for that treat!
The owner of the Pie Shop is Anita Hix, she also owns Anita’s Pantry & Produce located at 625 37 ½ road in Palisade. A little further afield, Anita’s Pantry & Produce carries fruits, veggies, canned goods, and other random goodies such as soaps, shirts, frozen fruit, and cheeses. I’ve not been to that store, so will check it out in the future. Until then, I highly recommend a visit to the Pie Shop.
From Posh Cottage’s (future) location, you turn right onto D road, then right onto 37 ½ road, and again right on C ½ road, the Pie Shop will be on your left. If you hit 32 road, you missed it!
They are open daily from 9 am – 5 pm, and you can call ahead to place an order at 970-549-0347. You can also follow them on Instagram at palisadepieshop.
If you like homemade pies, the Palisade Pie Shop is definitely worth a visit!
