Six Minutes Away – Restoration Vineyards
I am pleased to report the building of Posh cottage is underway! In preparation for the launching of our Airbnb, I will periodically be blogging about the various attractions that are minutes away from our guest house. First up… Restoration Vineyards!
Located on East Orchard Mesa, at 3594 E ½ Rd, Restoration Vineyards are about six minutes from our property. Along the way you will pass beautiful orchards, vineyards, and breath-taking views of the grand valley. Restoration is a family-owned vineyard and winery and offer both red and white wines all on the dry side. They are one of Andy and my favorite wineries, so much so that we are members of their wine club! They also make a delightful sparkling Rose! Gary and Linda are the owners, Linda is the wine maker while Gary works the front end, greeting and chatting with tasting room visitors.
Andy and I visited the tasting room the other day. We were gearing up to go to the grocery store and decided to stop by Restoration for a glass of wine! Nothing makes a grocery run easier than a glass of wine! During the winter, they are only open Thursday – Monday from 11 – 5 pm. Even in the chilly weather, we enjoy sitting outside by the fire, they have outdoor heaters, so it is quite comfortable. In addition, they offer complimentary s’mores complete with all the marsh mellow roasting gear and condiments (graham crackers, chocolate) and wood burning fire! Paired with one of their bold reds, like their 2019 Barbera or Proprietor’s Red Blend what more could you ask for? While we were there, we had a lovely conversation with Gary about our adventures in Pecan Harvesting, starting the Boutique farm, and building the guest house. We always enjoy talking with Gary as he is delightfully upbeat and full of positive energy.
Palisade in the winter is a pretty sleep little town, but Restoration always seems to be hoping. During the summer months they have awesome outdoor concerts and on Fridays stay open later. For the concerts, Restoration has food trucks on site for folks to enjoy a perfect summertime meal outside surrounded by vineyards and further afield, more gorgeous views of the Grand Mesa and Mount Garfield.
With our glasses of wine finished, it was time for us to head out. We said our goodbyes and were on our way to the grocery store! If I’ve piqued your curiosity for Restoration vineyards, I’ve included a link to their website below! If you like dry wine, they are definitely a must visit when you come to Palisade and stay at Posh Cottage!
